My name is Kaitlyn Martinez, and I am the face behind Bump & Bloom. I grew up in Houston, Texas, where I met the love of my life and have been married now for 8 years. We have four beautiful children, one who is in the arms of Jesus, and three who are in ours. I love them all dearly, and being a mom is one of my greatest joys.

Growing up, my dream was to become a neonatal nurse. As I worked towards that goal, I became a medical assistant at an OBGYN office. Seeing GYN patients become pregnant and then getting to care for them throughout pregnancy and postpartum was incredibly life-giving. 

 

In 2019, we had lost our first baby and were also pregnant with our oldest daughter. During that pregnancy, we did not hire a doula. I figured, “Hey, this is my first baby, and I work in this field. I don’t think we need one.” I was so wrong! Hindsight being 20/20, I realized how invaluable having a doula would have been to us. We hadn’t educated ourselves enough or prepared for the birth experience I had hoped for.

When I became pregnant with our second daughter, we made it a priority to invest in a doula. That birth was incredibly healing and redemptive. We prayed, prepared, and learned so much. The support and education our doula provided gave both my husband and me the confidence to walk into labor feeling prepared and empowered. After our daughter was born in 2022, a new passion for birth was ignited within me. That experience showed me that every family can benefit from having a doula on their birth team, regardless of the type of birth they hope to have. It was in 2023 that I finally started to work towards becoming a doula! I have never looked back since.

 

Birth is something that is so spiritual, rewarding, intimate, and just beautiful. Having babies is not a medical event, but a transformative experience you remember for the rest of your life. I believe women can birth the baby their body grew. My desire in creating Bump and Bloom is to support you from the growing bump to the blooming of your family. Rooted in faith, guided by evidence-based education, and committed to empowering every birth with unwavering support.
